Dr. Levi Russell currently serves as the Gwartney Institute Professor of Economic Education and Research at Ottawa University’s Angell Snyder School of Business. A native of Kansas, Dr. Russell earned degrees in finance and economics at Kansas State University. Prior to joining Ottawa, he was a professor of agricultural economics at Texas A&M University and the University of Georgia.
Dr. Russell has taught courses in finance, political economy, agricultural policy, production economics, and business strategy. His scholarly interests lie at the intersection of economics and politics, with an emphasis on the way policy is determined, the unintended consequences of policy, and the design of government and private institutions for serving the needs of people. He is a specialist at bringing economic concepts and principles to people of all ages and backgrounds through simple but compelling writing and speaking.
